Community Programs Internship 

NOTE: This position is exclusively open to currently enrolled undergraduate (2 or 4-year) and community college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. See the “Eligibility & Qualifications” section below for additional information.  

The Writers Guild Foundation is seeking a Community Programs Intern to support our flagship initiatives serving emerging writers from underrepresented backgrounds, including the Writers’ Access Support Staff Training Program, Veterans Writing Project, and Veterans Fellowship.

Position Overview

In this role, the Community Programs Intern will work closely with the Director of Community Programs to help design promotional campaigns spotlighting program graduates, edit recorded footage for online distribution, conduct essential research to further program development, organize data from annual alumni surveys, and assist with event planning. 

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about promoting inclusion and equity in the entertainment industry.    

This is a temporary, part-time position beginning in September 2026 and continuing through January 2027.  Occasional evening work may be required.  

  • Location: 7000 West Third St., Los Angeles, CA 90048 
  • Position Type: Part-time, temporary 
  • Duration: September to January, 400 hours total 
  • Weekly Hours: 16–24 hours per week 
  • Work Schedule: In-person, Mon/Wed/Thurs 
  • Compensation: $18.47 per hour 
  • Reports To: Director of Community Programs 

Eligibility & Qualifications 

This opportunity is made possible through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture’s Arts Internship Program, which provides internships for nonprofit performing, presenting, film, media, literary, municipal arts, social justice and social service nonprofit organizations. 

2026 Arts Internship positions are open to currently enrolled undergraduate (2 or 4-year) and community college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Recent graduates may apply as long as they have completed their degree between May 1 - December 1, 2026.  

Required Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in a two- or four-year undergraduate program, or a recent graduate (degree completed between May 1 and December 1, 2026) 
  • Reside in or attend college in Los Angeles County 
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States 
  • Available to work in person at the WGF office 2–3 days per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays only)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly within the entertainment industry 
  • Ability to conduct independent research, facilitate informational interviews, compile findings into an organized data presentation, and identify trends among a limited population   
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and personable, with a positive attitude 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience working with a nonprofit organization 
  • Familiarity with web design, particularly Squarespace 
  • Experience in video editing or graphic design 

Please note the following eligibility information:  

  • Students who have already earned a BA, BS, or a higher degree are not eligible for the Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program. 
  • Students who have previously participated in the program are not eligible to participate for a second time. 
  • Students who are invited to participate in the program will be asked to provide verification of eligibility via college transcripts, driver’s license, and other documents to show enrollment status and/or LA County residence.
